Your body is a temple

Today’s verse:  Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own.

Did you wake up today and thank God for another day?  Did your make a promise to stick to your healthy lifestyle?   He will help you!

Today’s tip is to think of your body as a temple.  God has given you this wonderful gift to use and enjoy.  Why do we want to destroy something that He has given us?   Do we want to overeat, smoke, drink, ingest drugs, or whatever other vice we have?

God created us in his image, and He is perfect. While we cannot be perfect, we can try to honor the temple that he has given us.  We can do this by sticking to our daily promise not to overeat.   We can honor God by honoring ourselves.

Every time you are tempted to overeat (smoke…fill in the blank) think about how you are destroying the temple that God has given you.   If you follow my blog, yesterday we determined we would make a promise to God and today we will honor his temple.  With God’s help, all things are possible!   Stick to it and you will succeed- one day at a time.

Living Healthy Menu (adapted from Prevention Magazine’s 28 day challenge)

Breakfast:  Open face egg sandwich

1 hard or soft cooked egg on 1 slice whole wheat toast
6 oz. plain Greek-style yogurt
1/2 grapefruit
12 oz. coffee

Lunch:  Turkey Pecan Salad

Whisk 1 Tbsp olive oil and 2 tsp balsamic vinegar.  Add 2  cups mixed greens, 1/2 cucumber, 3 oz. deli sliced low-fat turkey breast, 3 tomato slices, 1 rib celery, 5 baby carrots, and 10 unsalted pecan halves.  Toss well
1 small fruit (apple / pear / orange)
12 oz. green tea

Dinner:  Steak and Shrooms

Heat 1 Tbsp olive oil in skillet over medium high heat.  Add 3 oz. filet mignon or lean beef cut into chunks and cook with 1 cup sliced mushrooms and 1/2 cup each diced onions and red bell pepper.  Serve over 1/2 cup cooked quinoa or brown rice
12 oz. herbal tea


1 frozen low-calorie fudge dessert bar rolled in 10 chopped unsalted peanuts

Optional Snack

1/4 cup (30 pieces) unsalted pistachios in the shell
12 oz. herbal tea
