You only live once, so think twice!

Today’s verse:  John 11:25  Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believes in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live.

YOLO:  A popular Twitter acronym for “You only live once”.  This phrase reminds us of all the things we want to do before we die, and we don’t want to regret not having done them. It can involve risks, unconventional or impulsive acts, or giving in to our addictions and desires.  This can be good things or bad things.  In this context, I would like us to consider the bad choices we make in this life.

Because Jesus died for our sins, we know that we are saved and will have eternal life.  In a sense then, we do not only live once.   But while on earth, we want to live to do God’s will.   Can we do that if we are abusing ourselves and our bodies?  No we cannot.   We cannot serve two masters.   Any addiction, be it food, drugs, alcohol,  pornography, smoking, etc. can become a master of our lives.   We need to think twice about what master we are serving.

We must eat healthy and sensibly (follow my recipes at the end of every blog!), exercise, not smoke, not do drugs, and otherwise lead a healthy lifestyle.   God can help us through this and will be waiting for us with eternal life on the other side if we make him our Master instead of our letting our addictions master us.  So think twice and you will live more than once!
